Engineering Capacity

Embedded Engineering

Senior engineers who work inside your team, not around it.

When the constraint is engineering hands, not a new capability, we place senior engineers directly into your existing team for a defined period, in your codebase and your process, not a separate outsourced pod running by its own rules.

Discuss an Operational Challenge

What This Is

Embedded Engineering places one or more senior Shoppeal engineers directly inside your existing team for a defined period. They work in your codebase, join your standups, and report into your sprint process, not ours. It's a way to add engineering capacity without adding management overhead, or waiting through a multi-month hiring cycle for a need that may not be permanent.

Not The Old Model

How this is different.

"Staff augmentation" usually means a resume-matched contractor added to headcount, running on someone else's process. This is built to be the opposite of that.

In your process, not ours

They join your standups, your PM tool, and your code review process. No parallel workflow for your team to manage on top of their own.

Senior only

Matched by relevant domain and stack experience, not pulled from a bench and keyword-matched. No junior-heavy pyramid billed as senior capacity.

Defined start and end

Scoped to a real, named need for a real period. Reviewed at the end, not open-ended headcount that quietly outlives the reason it started.

You keep technical ownership

Architecture decisions, code ownership, and IP stay with you. We extend engineering capacity. We don't take over engineering authority.

Process

How it works.

01

Scope the gap

We start with what's actually constraining you: a skill your team doesn't have yet, a deadline, a backlog that keeps growing. Not a generic headcount request.

02

Match

We propose specific senior engineers with relevant experience for that gap, not a stack of resumes to interview blind.

03

Embed

They join your team, your tools, and your process, typically within one to two weeks. Same sprint cadence your team already runs.

04

Review

At the end of the defined period: extend if the need continues, hand the work back cleanly, or wind down. Your call, not a renewal default.

What You Get

Deliverables.

  • A senior engineer (or small pod) embedded in your team for a defined period
  • Full integration into your existing tools, code review, and sprint process
  • Direct reporting to your engineering lead, not a Shoppeal account layer
  • A clean handoff or transition plan built in from the start, not improvised at the end

Usually Paired With

Most engagements start as a scoped Software Engineering build. Embedded Engineering is what we offer when the constraint turns out to be capacity, not a new capability.
